||
Wexford Plantation is an exclusive neighborhood, unique in its privacy, security and diminutive size. Graceful in every detail, Wexford encompasses only 525 acres, making it an ideal choice for those who are looking for tranquility and a special sense of community on Hilton Head Island. At build-out, less than 500 homes are planned. Wexford is an ideal choice for those who enjoy the finest of neighborhoods combined with resort-caliber amenities. It has come to be known as the premier address for permanent or part time residency on Hilton Head. Built in the British Colonial style, the homes at Wexford are designed with an emphasis on such details as arched windows, impressive entrances and soft pastel colors. While the Caribbean theme is consistent, each home maintains its own individuality. All homes are protected by 24-hour roving security and a video camera at the front gate. As you would expect, Wexford Plantation offers premier-class golf and tennis facilities. In addition to a private 18-hole golf club, there is a tennis club, a croquet lawn plus private pool and patio overlooking the harbour. Biking and jogging paths are also available as is a special playground for children. Residents enjoy a multi-million dollar clubhouse for dining and special events. Most extraordinary, however, is Wexford’s Harbour and its access to Broad Creek and the Intracoastal Waterway. THE RESIDENTS There are both full and part time residents at Wexford. Currently, there are approximately 60% golfing households, 30% tennis households, and 30% own boats. THE NEIGHBORHOODS While Wexford is primarily comprised of single-family homes, there are a limited number of townhouses and villas. Given its small size, all residents consider themselves members of one neighborhood - the Wexford community. THE HARBOUR Winding through the center of Wexford is a 37.5 acre harbour with access to Broad Creek and the Intracoastal Waterway. An innovative lock system controls the water level in the harbour to a minimum of eight feet. Boat slips can accommodate yachts up to 75 feet with 19 feet in beam. Property owners may moor boats at the marina or at their private docks on their property. There is a full time Harbourmaster at Wexford and two assistants. THE CLUB Said to the be the "heart" of the plantation, is Wexford’s multi-million dollar Clubhouse, a British Colonial style facility located on the harbour. No initiation fees are charged for membership. All property owners receive membership to the Club and complimentary access to golf, tennis, harbour and pool. Dining is available six days a week for lunch, including Sunday brunch Three nights a week for dinner and fine dining on Saturday nights Special activities average at least 2-3 per month including dinner dances, cookouts, events for children, wine-tastings and newcomer parties. TENNIS With views of the harbour and golf course, property owners at Wexford enjoy six Har-Tru tennis courts. Two are lighted courts for night play and for intra and inter club play. A Head Pro and an assistant pro are on staff. GOLF This elegant golf club, designed by Willard Byrd and redone in 1999 by Ken Venturi, is one of the true gems on Hilton Head. This course couples scenic beauty with shrewd design and offers a challenge that will not be quickly forgotten. The opening holes slowly build the experience. Suddenly the fifth hole arrives and the true nature of this great course begins. Shot placement becomes essential on this clever hole. As the turn is made, the player sees the wandering harbor that forms a part of this layout. The back nine escalates until the closing holes that set this course aside as a championship facility. The marshes come into the side of #17 and extend to the finishing hole that demands the utmost in shot making. "Teeing it up" at Wexford is rarely a problem. Since the course is totally private, less than 50 rounds are played per day. A Head Pro and three assistants are on staff. |
