In all probability, Indigo Run is the final golf and residential community to be developed on Hilton Head Island. Located on the north end of the Island, directly across from Hilton Head Plantation, this private plantation borders William Hilton Parkway to the north and Broad Creek on the south. Indigo Run features a combination of practical living and beautiful surroundings. Its location offers residents a quiet oasis close to shopping, schools, dining, entertainment and medical services - and a wide range of views - from golf, lagoon to waterfront. Currently, Indigo Run’s 1,600 acres are still in the development phase. Heading the list of amenities at Indigo Run are 36 holes of Nicklaus championship golf, including The Golf Club, a private members-only club with a Jack Nicklaus/Jack Nicklaus II signature course. The other course, Golden Bear, offers an acclaimed layout by Nicklaus design. In addition to golf, residents enjoy swimming and tennis at a private recreation center and may stroll or jog on miles of leisure trails. Other amenities such as a private dock on Broad Creek are found in separate enclaves within the plantation itself. Membership privileges vary according to locale. (See neighborhoods below) INDIGO RUN ASSOCIATION Fees based on location and on improved or unimproved lots. THE RESIDENTS Because of the first class amenities, many have a second or vacation home in Indigo Run. Full-time residents including retirees, empty nesters and families with children also reside within the plantation. THE NEIGHBORHOODS Indigo Run features several distinct communities: the Golden Bear Course and neighborhood; The River Club and Broad Pointe on the waterfront; and the newest and most prestigious addition, The Golf Club at Indigo Run, a private golf club community. Primary and secondary home- buyers may also be interested in Berwick Green, a small development of exclusive town homes.
CLUBHOUSES There are two Clubhouses within Indigo Run. Membership and privileges are based on where you reside within the plantation. SUNNINGDALE PARK In the heart of Indigo Run, Sunningdale Park is an exclusive recreation area reserved for Indigo Run residents and their guests. Within the landscaped complex are an Olympic sized pool, six tennis courts, a playground and other amenities. TENNIS Sixteen tennis courts are available at Sunningdale Park with clay and hard surfaces. Four are lighted. There are additional courts in separate communities within Indigo Run. GOLF Golden Bear Golf Course The first of Indigo Run`s two Nicklaus-designed golf courses, The Golden Bear has quickly earned a name for itself as one of the top-rated layouts on an island of top-flight designs. Enjoy the meandering road into the Golden Bear course and as you arrive in the elegant setting, note that your clubs have just been put on a golf cart that will provide you with accurate yardage in a computerized display. But your basic skills will be needed as you undertake this clever Nicklaus design by Golden Bear Associates. An example in point - #3, a par 4 dogleg right. Hit a driver with a fade to overwhelm this short par 4 - but don`t hit it straight, or it`s trapped. Beyond the trap, a lagoon is lurking. Every time the mood to "nail one" hits the player, there is a lurking bunker or lagoon to grab the errant shot. The stretch from #13 to #18 will vex the best golfer. This is a great test of golf! The Golf Club at Indigo Run The Golf Club course is designed in a classic style that hearkens back to "Golden Age" creations like Pine Valley, Shinnecock Hills and Augusta National. Named "One of the Top Ten Private Courses of 1996" by Golf Digest, The Golf Club course is reserved exclusively for members and their guests A private club demands excellent design and amenities and The Golf Club meets the challenge. This the first joint venture of Jack Nicklaus and his son, Jack Nicklaus II. The member and guest will never tire of this unique facility that urges the golfer to "go for it" while extracting the penalty for the errant effort. Nicklaus constantly inserts the "risk / reward" design and this is never more evident than the layout of the finishing holes. The seventeenth, a par 3, is definitely one of the best par 3`s in the area and the first time player will recall it long after the round. The closing hole demands the best that a golfer has and is in the true tradition of great finishers. |
